Preparatory Prosthesis

This prosthesis is also sometimes referres to as the "training leg". This prosthesis utilizes advanced componentry, socket designs, and suspension systems to begin the rehabilitation process more aggressively. This prosthesis is designed to facilitate the gait training process while accommodating individual residual limb changes.

This prosthesis is generally worn for 3 to 6 months; or more specifically until residual limb shape changes have been judged to have significantly stabilized. The preparatory prosthesis may utilize ant suspension provided that it will accommodate residual limb changes.

Componentry selected for the prosthesis (i.e. foot and/or knee technology) is determined with safety and initial individual ability in mind. Componentry is often upgraded prior to fabrication of the final, or definitive, process once the individuals physical status has progressed.
